Resources > Web/Marketing Tips
Below you will find tips for creating your website, working with a web designer and marketing your site. The information in this section is for infomational purpose only. Contact B&B Publishing
for more information or to learn how we can help you build and promote your business today.
Tip #1 - Choosing a Domain Name
A domain name is your website's address online (what visitors will type in web browsers to find your site). Ideally, your domain name should be relatively short, easy to remember and match your business name as closely as possible. Before you
even choose a name for your business, it's very important to do some research to verify that the name will be marketable for your company. The name should feature your most important keywords (words or terms that people type in search engines to find your type of company online). For example, if you're a travel agent, having the words travel, vacations or cruises in your business name will be more beneficial to your company than a name with just your First and
Last name.
When deciding on a name for your new business, why not check to see if the name or a similar version of it is available
as a domain name, and then register it right away once your business name is secured. Domain names are registered
through Domain Name Registrars such as GoDaddy and Network Solutions. At B&B Publishing, all of our web packages, including our basic start up packages, provide domain registration services which includes the research and registration
of the name. Contact us with any questions you may have about the registration process.
Tip #2 - What to Do Before Contacting a Web Designer
To help make the website design and development process go as smoothly as possible, it's always helpful to have any existing materials such as an established logo, images and written documentation ready before contacting a designer. Obtaining permission to use existing images/graphics from the photographer or graphic artist in advance will also help minimize delays and problems once the project is underway.
Aditionally, it's also best to know what features/services you need and want for your site in advance since it's usually
more costly to add them to your website at a later date. At B&B Publishing, we can customize existing packages to
meet
our customer's needs and budgets providing a greater discount than is available when features are added to a
site separately.
Tip #3 - Working with a Designer
Clear communication between you, the client, and the designer/company is necessary to ensure the best outcome for
your project. At B&B Publishing, we provide timely updates on projects once they're underway, and we are always open
to our clients' input and requests. Be sure that whatever designer/company you choose clearly relays the design process
to you before the work begins so you have a clear understanding of the services they will provide, what happens at each stage of the project and what your responsibilities are. This will help make the experience more pleasant and ensure a
better outcome.
